Due to their living conditions before the refugees were resettled in the United States, healthcare was poor or non-existent. Thrive will educate them on the importance of quality healthcare. Thrive will assist in scheduling appointments, helping with transportation to the appointments and helping them understand what the doctor/nurse has prescribed for improving their health.
Refugees qualify for several governmental programs including food stamps SNAP, TN Care, Green Cards and others. Understanding these programs can be confusing. Thrive will help the refugees navigate these programs and complete the forms. This will ensure that there are no gaps in coverage of benefits for the refugees.
Transportation is another huge barrier for our refugee families. Thrive works with refugees to help them navigate the Metro Nashville
”WeGo” public transportation system. Thrive provides, on a limited basis, transportation to healthcare appointments, Adult Education classes, Youth Mentor programs, and other activities.
Domestic abuse is a horrible result of unresolved trauma. Through justice advocacy, Thrive will help the victims of domestic abuse know their rights, navigate the justice system, and hold their hands as they take courageous steps to a better life.
